Welcome back to our “Meet the EMURGO Team” series! In this series, we introduce you to members of our talented team; take a closer look at who they are, and what they do behind the scenes. Previously, we introduced Hoshi - Consulting Manager and Puru - Consultant. This week, let’s meet another fantastic team member from EMURGO’s Consulting unit, Ryuta Toida.
Toida also gives us his views in the video below, so please check it out now!
Here is also a short interview with Toida.
Could you tell me about your reasons for joining EMURGO?
Toida: I truly believe that blockchain technology and digital assets such as cryptocurrencies will eventually become a part of the mainstream all over the world. The exciting potential of blockchain technology is so fascinating and thus, I want to play a part in this global revolution!
What experience did you have prior to joining?
Toida: I first joined EMURGO as an intern when I was a university student. Before joining EMURGO, I did a wide assortment of volunteering as a college student such as supporting the establishment of elementary schools in developing countries and joining environmental friendly organizations that address pollution issues.
I was always motivated by the smiles that I saw when helping out at the villages in developing countries. Especially when compared to the living conditions in Japan, I am grateful for all the resources that we have and I want to further devote more of my efforts to assisting those in need. I feel that blockchain technology could potentially help to solve some of these problems in developing countries, and so I decided to help contribute by being a part of this industry.
It has now been more than a year since you joined EMURGO. What’s your role and can you tell me about your biggest achievement?
Toida: I think my biggest achievement has been recruiting talented people to join our EMURGO team.
I am responsible for the recruitment of talented people not only from Japan, but also from different parts of the globe. As EMURGO was first established in Japan, the initial members are mainly Japanese. However, within two short years, EMURGO has since expanded to other countries such as Singapore, India, and Indonesia, and thus we need more talented people internationally to support this growth. EMURGO Japan has talented staff from all over the world - Singapore, India, Indonesia, America, Korea, China, Ukraine, Venezuela and more. I am looking forward to growing the EMURGO & Cardano ecosystem with our amazing team together!
What are your thoughts on the potential for blockchain technology?
Toida: One of the core tenets of blockchain technology is fairness & equality for all parties. It applies not only to developed countries, but also to developing countries where people do not have equal access to the important resources that we have. I also think there is a huge possibility to address & improve current environmental problems such as pollution and environmental protection through more transparency via blockchain technology. Blockchain technology has the potential to bring great results to the world and change the lives of people around the world.
What do you like most about working here at EMURGO?
Toida: I like to work with my coworkers who come from different parts of the world. Our backgrounds and expertises are so different, but EMURGO has brought us here to be in the same place, striving for the same objective - to build and grow a global Cardano. I’ve learnt a lot from my fellow coworkers and everybody is very friendly!
What do you think about the atmosphere in the EMURGO office?
Toida: Super friendly. We have good communication across all departments. We have lunch together, and work out together in the recreation room during our breaks (everyone tries to gain more muscles!).
How do you feel about EMURGO's core values?
Toida: As we all know, the pace of blockchain industry is really fast. By being valuable, bold and adaptive, it makes EMURGO a leader in the industry. I think everyone in the company applies the core values to their lives, and works hard towards the same goal.
Finally, anything you would like to say to those interested in joining EMURGO in the future?
Toida: We have the best team and environment! We are waiting for you to join our family!
Yes: EMURGO team members are dedicated to building a global Cardano together with the community. We believe that the stronger the team we build, the stronger EMURGO and Cardano will be!
